i have just wasted a perfectly good morning of my life for no apparent reason!

a lady reads my ad for my 16.2 6yr old mare and rings to say she would like to view it.
sounds ok so far...........
arranged for 10am so i dutifully scrub field kept mare to within an inch of her life and leave in one of my jumpers to take her hacking as she said this was something she would want to do.
10 am arrives, no car pulls into my yard.
11am, still nothing.
try to ring their mob and no answer.
12.15pm a car pulls into the yard.
i by this point have ridden the one i left in and turned mare out in a strop!!!
said person introduces herself and doesnt apologise she is several hours late. i however do point this out to her and explain that the horse is in the field again.
i get marey back in and pop her in a box so lady can see her.
wat happens next is a vague re inactment as i was counting to 10 very loudly in my head!!!
quote:
oh, she is far too big for me and im not really keen on mares to be honest. no i dont think i will sit on her.

i ask her ( quite politly i think)
WHY she came to look at a 16.2 mare then???????
she replies bacause she was local.
at this point i lost it and told her to stop wasting my time anymore as i did actually have work to do.
i suppose the only good thing is she didnt waste more time by riding her.

WHAT IS IT with some people??????

Oh don't - I had a potential loaner out to see my boy - rode with washing line reins, a complete numpty, then moaned that he wouldn't do what she wanted. I politely 'assured' her that with the right rider he went perfectly.

Decided not to bother for the time being as it's getting me and him down a bit!

And breeeeeeeeeeathe!!

I'm not surprised you're wound up though, I'm be rather p*ssed off too!

Jeez, there's some muppets out there!

God, some people really are numpties!! When I was looking for a loaner/sharer for Beau I would have a nice honest ad, then after 1st contact I would tell them honestly what he REALLY is like - all the bad bits - if they contacted back then they could come see him, I only got 1 that confuzzled me as I said he was a short backed ponyish 15.3hh (we now know its 15.1) who rode smaller and she still came rode and then was like- oh I need like a 16.3hh!! And this was an ex riding instructor!! Me thinks she just wanted a free ride - bah!

Think I'd of lost it too.... not like you have anything better to be doing than waiting for people who may or may not turn up ... for her then to decide she was too big and not even bother riding.... think my language would of been choice!!

well at least she decided promptly and didn't make you pull her out and tack her up and show her of then her have a go then go for a hack etc etc to then say actually I don't want a mare.
The turning up late and not apologising for it , is well out of order.

at least she turned up- i had one the other week rang me late at night to say wanted to come a 4hr drive and see her....the nnever turned up desite me saying i needed to know if she wasnt coming as i had canclled my own lesson and booked an arena-didnt even get a word!!

then someone else after about2/3 phone calls etc turned around and said we dont want to spend this much anymore..i mean..come on!

If it makes you feel any better we haven't even had anyone to look at our horse.

Instead I have had to endure long phone calls from idiots wanting to know whether he will go all the way! Hang on I'll just get out my Crystal Ball!

And this one was my all time favourite. Had a lovely coloured show cob for sale and a woman rang asked all the right questions and arranged to view him. He had white legs so he too had been scrubbed and polished. She took one look over the stable door and said...
"No thank you I don't like coloured horses."

I nearly fell over - What part of 15.1hh Piebald gelding do you not understand??????? I asked her why she had bothered to come and she said: "He sounded lovely and I thought I might be OK but having seen him I don't like coloureds and I couldn't have one!

Best one I've had was someone who took one look at a mare i was selling and decided she couldn't buy her as she looked too much like the gelding she had just sold. I wouldn't have minded but I did email her photos and had taken time off work to meet the stupid people!

oh dont get me started !! I had a woman call me and say she wanted to view my horse that day could they come down - she only lived roudn the corner !! I politely told her that i had already had a dressage lesson on him half an hour ago and that only being a youngster it would be better for her to come tomorrow she then proceeded to say if i didnt want to sell my horse then fine and slammed the phone down !! I was so annoyed i called her back - she then agreed that maybe it was better to come the next day - so came down walked in the stable and said oh he is to small !!! grrrr

i was trying to loan a large chestnut tb recently and a woman turned up to see him and annouced "don't like chestnuts, tbs or big horses but seeing as I'm here can I take him for a hack and can you look after my baby while I do it"
I agree mug that I am and an hour and a half later she came back and annouced "like him but hes too big too chestnut and I don't like tbs" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Had one come three times then say they didn't like chestnuts...
Had one come twice, agree price, promise to arrange vetting - and then never heard from for three months, when they rang and asked whether I would schol their new horse as it didn't go as well as the one of mine they'd tried.
It goes on... and on...
However have just sold my mare to a lovely, perfect family and the whole process took less than a week, so they are out there!

I've had eejits phone and ask if they can have him on a 12 month loan and then allow them to pay for him in installments.
One wanted to know if he had a nice long mane and tail.

and another wanted to come on x day at y time. I said no, because I had someone coming that exact day and time. So she then said " can i come x day at y time?" errr nooo!!! I just told you you couldnt!! *sigh*

I had that trying to sell my car!!!! I cleaned it, they test drove it 3 TIMES and then they said they didnt like Peugeots and they wanted something more like a Vauxhall Astra (it was a bloody Peugeot 106 I was selling!!!!!) grrrrrrrrr

I have stuck an advert for my boy(long time ago i may add, wouldnt have sold him,got guilt trips left right and centre, lol)in the local tack and feed shops!!Advert clearly stated he was 3yrs old, lunging nicely but.......wait for it......NOT BACKED!!!I had 4 people phone up asking if he would suit a novice rider
