Giddens was a saddlers in Mayfair. I think it shut down a few years ago. Lovely saddles though. I bought one in their sale for my now 31 yo when she was 4. No idea of value but I wouldn't have thought it would be hugely valuable.

Giddens moved in the later years over to Reading.
Their pony saddles were legendary & fitted so well.
I still have Small Fuzzies saddle (RIP) & am still not sure about letting it go but its just gathering dust on its cover :o

OP, I would contact one of the local (NW Surrey/South Berkshire) master saddlers as they will be able to give you a fair bit of info regarding Giddens saddles

I think you'll gain little value by finding out more - an old saddle like that won't get much money, especially when the company is no more. I would sell as seen personally.

Whilst training I visited their workshops in London back in 1987, nice quality work and probably one of if not the only true London based Traditional Saddlers left in London at the time.
My teacher in the Saddlery college (Cordwainers) used to work for them, I'm still in contact with her and she gave me alot of patterns for their saddlery which I still refer to when making new saddlery.
One of my class mates went onto work for Coleman Croft in St Albans which is jointly owned by Michael & Patricia Gidden, who used to run Giddens obviously.
I would contact them to see if you can get any further info on that saddle, hope it helps, Oz

Here's a bit more about them

Looks as if it could be one of their lightweight jumping saddles. I had one many years ago. I would say it is nearer 35-40 years old. Sadly worth very little, but was a lovely saddle in its time.
