Asking on behalf of a friend so won't go into detail but has anyone ever heard of something called girth line syndrome? Description being pain around the girth line caused by the horse bruising itself with its hooves when lying down?
Ne'er heard of it before myself so said I would ask around!

No, I know horses who've had girth pain from girths, specifically those so called humane girths by areborne that have to be done up really tightly straight away, hate hate hate them!
My late mare was sore being girthed up when she had abdominal pain and I know some mares in season are girthy.
Never hear of their hooves doing it before though... Surely if their hooves were digging in they would shift themselves into a more comfortable position?

Firewell that was what I said - surely they would feel the bruising happenning?! Hence my post on here to see if anyone had heard of such a thing causing girth area pain.

Can occur with a horse that's sharp in front when jumping. Also, over-girthing could exacerbate.

Re moving to avoid bruising.....have you never had a bruise on your arm/leg and wondered where it came from? I know I have....or at least been aware of pressure but not been uncomfortable from it....or at least uncomfortable enough to do anything about it and move!

Horse in question not jumped for prob 6 months, never worn an over girth. Has had mctimoney recently, initial and repeat visit.
True re the bruises and not being sure where they came from, but possibly not to the point where soreness would become a problem?
Ho hum, will pass all thoughts on, thanks!
