Ive recently acquired a horse and when I got him home I noticed that he had a dry scaly area behind his elbow about the size of a 2 pence.

He has been a bit nibbly when girthed although nothing extreme. However yesterday whilst being worked everytime he trotted he took some unlevel steps.

However with his tack removed on the lunge the unlevelness couldnt be reproduced.

It appears to be a girth gall so I am going to change his tack and girth and use a sheepskin girth sleeve to see if this helps.

Does anyone know what I can put on this sore however to get rid of it in the meantime? Many thanks for any advice.

rest and apply aloe vera cream to help soften the are a up and help with hair regrowth than when that strats to grow you know the area is healing then apply surgial sprits to harden it up!

Calendula cream is very good for the skin and minor wounds/sores. Hilton Herbs do one called phyto balm (i think) that has calendula in it

Thank you for all your help.
The sheepskin sleeve has definitely made him better to girth. Im now going to rest him and see if I can clear the lump up. Fingers crossed.
