Wondered if anyone has come across this! Just got a new saddle fitted and it’s girthing up slightly more forward than my old saddle and my boy has 2 pea sized lumps/rubs at each elbow ? could it just be softer skin? Never had this issue before!

My new horse came with visibly healed girth galls. Had she been mine when they first appeared I would have downed tools and worked out why. Your saddle and girth isnt fitting if its causing your horse to get blisters/ sores its as simple as that IMO.

we were prone to elbow rubs but not lumps - though one derby house girth made him bleed within the 30 minutes it was on .
All down to his girth confo and particularly wrinkly elbows though and manageable. As it's occurred as a result of a change I'd be having the saddler back out.

Yeah I guess so *sigh* It’s so frustrating and something I’ve never dealt with before. I do think as a cob with ‘wrinkly armpits’ lol probably doesn’t help!

what girth is it?

I think F's armpits got worse with age, but they were baggy and wrinkly enough for the saddler to come out with a prolite to comment on.

It’s an hy girth (like the Thorowgood ones) with elastic at both ends. Long girth. New saddle looks great fit wise and feels a million times better. He seems happy as Larry in it too ?
