So pony is a sensitivetype, pink skined etc. He already has a sheep skin girth sleeve on, but over the last month/2 hes basically got rub marks where his grith goes, one side has now gotten even sorer and has pink spots (so like its cut/bled etc).

any ideas on what i can do? like i said he already has a sheepskin girth sleeve as previous owners said he needed one because of pink skin and i make sure i brush there properly and after ive ridden him i sponge the area off...

nope, real. And they get washed (in plain water) every other time he wears it so no dirt.sweat etc.
ive him coming up two years now, so am a bit puzzled as to why its suddenly happened as nothings changed but want to sort it!

I had to change to a different shaped girth for my horse and then a different material! What girth do you use?

If its only started happening recently it may be worth getting your saddle checked in case it is making the girth move so it rubs your horse

i use a stubben string girth they are marvelous for sensitive horses ,i cant use anything else when my horse has his summer coat.in the winter i use an albion shaped leather(dressage) girth.

Nothing really of any use other than that my horse had a "normal" shaped girth and suddenly started getting very sore similar to the symtoms you described OP. I got a shaped girth made from very soft material, I think it is an Aerborn, and this cleared the issue up.
I did once read somewhere that similar issues like this were to be treated with salt water to harden the skin but it was probably from an ancient hunting manual dug out of an attic or charity shop!

No. That was the girth that made her very sore :( plus I have a fear of humane girths as what if one of the buckle bits snapped? Sounds silly but it worried me. I will just do a bit of searching and try to find a pic of something similar to what Im using atm :) . . .
