I have a professional choice girth which i love but after a year i noticed the stitching is coming away and i have no idea what to go for now, something smart and something brown? Thank you! :)

I have a Wintec dressage girth and a throwgood dressage girth. I did get a lovely expensive leather girth for my girl before, but it just didn't suit her, and I've found the straighter the girth is, the happier she is. The pony also has thorowgood girths for her GP saddle. My girl has a fleece lined girth for her GP saddle - not sure of the make, JHL or something like that I think :)

I always look for girths with double elastic, or elastic throughout for my girl, as she just gives me filthy looks otherwise!

I've got a thorowgood synthetic dressage which is still like new after 5 years. I've also got a MT stud girth b

i use a jeffries leather girth for both mine but only because my colored is allergic to anything else and the other one is in his cast off's that no longer fit
iv'e always been happy with them and never had to replace one yet other than them being out grown over the years and find them reasonably priced :)

I too use professional choice girth's. Many a time I had tried to find a worthy replacement, but as yet I haven't.

The horse I have to use one on has no wither with a rotund barrel :p

However I can get away with an Albion leather girth with her dressage saddle, and I expect if I had a jumping saddle with long girth straps I may be able to get away with it.

Must admit I put the whole girth in the washing machine, so I suppose I have to expect wear and tear. There are copies out there but none quite so good imho.

Thorowgood girths - in both the long and the dressage versions. When I was hunting etc it was so much easier to be able to just chuck it in a bowl of water to wash!

Albion shaped leather dressage girth, fantastic quality leather, well padded and correctly shaped. Swear by them!

I'm another that uses Thorowgood girths. I'm looking for a leather one at the minute though, liking the look of Jeffries as I need one with no elastic!

I now refuse to ride any horse in a professional choice girth after I had one break, which resulted in a broken ankle. The girth in question was in very good condition and 6 months old, no signs of damage to stitching etc, yet still the both buckles on the left side snapped off the elastic. Pro Choice apoligised, and took the girth away to look at, and offered a replacement which I didn't take them up on! I now use a jeffries leather girth, or with my single flap saddles a wintec.

eeeeeeeekkkkk!!! Oh god i think i maybe should stop using it!! :(

I have a Shires Blenheim stud girth for everything that I ride in my jumping saddle for....it's tan and nicely padded- I like it a lot.

For dressage, I have several- a Cottage Craft synthetic one my mare hates, a wintec one my mare and gelding hate, and a cheapie leather Requisite one from Robinsons, which is super padded, and they LOVE.

Wintec Chaffless Elastic.. or Mohair String Girth (like the Stubben String one but Mohair) Have tried a Kentaur shaped girth which was very nice too when had a saddle on trial.. would also like to trial the leather version of the Flexi Girth.

wintec elastic, really good, never rub.
stubben string girth, brilliant.
norton and newby fabric girth, very simple, stays flat, very comfy for horse.
padded leather with central elastic.
thorowgood dressage.
depends on the horse, the saddle, and the length of the girths i have!
