I brought my youngster to give me jumping confidence because Mr Schoolmaster basically had too much power for me to confidently handle.

Youngster and me have just clicked - i cant do a thing wrong on him, he works beautifully and everyone is remarking on how good we look together, how well i ride him etc etc. I love him to bits BUT not in the sameway as Mr Schoolmaster - he was a very very switched off horse and is still finding his personality.

Now Mr Schoolmaster - I ride well - but am always a little wary of ! Why oh why cant i click with Mr Schoolmaster? He has made me the rider I am now and teaches me something new every day - but it just seams so unfair!

Im confused, u bought a youngster to give u confidence as the schoolmaster was too much... that's the complete opposite of what u usually hear - LOL!

I say give it time.

Be glad you have two horses that are sound and don't over analyse it. You won't have the same relationship with all horses but they don't care whether there is a click in your relationship.

I'd like one rideable horse...

lol, I bought myself a sj to give myself confidence in jumping and fair do's she is pretty good a bit of a cocky bugger if you know what I mean but I cant ride her out hacking (can only do shows and school) she knows that is her job!

now my other horse hates schooling but loves hacking, I have learnt to accept their faults and you and I are lucky enough to own 2 horses so just enjoy what good aspect each horse gives to you.

Sorry DWI - I am a spoilt bratt - and i have been following your poor situation - so just given myself a slap !

EDT - oh yes - sounds bizzare i know but it turned out that Mr Schoolmaster had done intermediate eventing and if you dont ride him properly - he tells you off and i mean he tells you off. The youngone - you laugh when he tries to tell you off - and point him at anything and he jumps it and trys to look after you on landing. Mr S only wants to encourage you to land on your own lol

Gosh he sounds like my mare you get frustrated because they are telling you off lol

we just need to find the "correct buttons to push" on these horse and then you will click

Get someone to video you riding the schoolmaster, that way you can look at yourself and say ahh thats is why he does this its cos I do that if you get what I mean,

I find this helps me as I can see that I hold my mare back to much going in to a fence when I just let her have more rein she just goes in at the correct speed herself.

Please take note of what schoolmaster is saying to you and you may not make same mistakes with the young one and ruin him. Sounds like you are one lucky lady!
