Give me strength!🤦‍♀️

This is the key sentence for me.

I've been involved with a few noise complaints relating to various tenants of rental properties but none have been able to be substantiated. The council always writes a letter even if the complaint is clearly nonsense. Some get dropped when the complainant realises that noise monitoring will record them as well and it could be that their own children / pets / TV are louder than the people they are moaning about. One neighbour wanted me to change the lease of a property to say that the tenants couldn't go in the garden after 8pm as the talking was keeping their kids awake. Another didn't want the tenants coming and going in the night time as the front door closing was disturbing them, the tenants worked shifts and needed to get back into their home  .

I lived in a coastal village for a short time. WAY too many herring gulls. Those things are seriously noisy and shag (geddit?) all sodding night; then you have the electronic distress calls , which the gulls completely ignore, cos they're a very long way from stupid. It was awful! That was without considering the mess and attacks by defensive adults. Who would you complain to? Neptune? Couldn't find contact details for him, so we moved.

The neighbour I mentioned was doing lots of noisy building work for the best part of 5 years solid. I was ITCHING for her to put in a complaint. Sadly she was all moan and no action. We live next to a rugby club and she complained about the noise from that, too. 😆

At a property years ago, neighbours both side detached, we took our decibel meter into one of the neighbours house who complained to us about noise from our soundproofed studio, only for their TV and little yappy dog to interfere with getting any studio sound leakage readings aside from the noise chaos inside their own house!
My OH was amazed that the tiny little dog barks almost peaked 90db! He said we should be complaining about them!

OH worked for the council at the time so informed himself of the noise nuisance laws, hence soundproofing. Once the decibel meter proved no leakage to be heard within their property we were satisfied they had no case. The leakage outside was such low decibels, that the passing cars from the front road was a far higher decibel reading, combined with the farm noise from the farm behind us.
