Glasgow riding school query, re dreadfully poor animals.

It's been circulating on FB for a while.

Someone traced their old horse as the new owner had loaned or put it on working livery there. They found allegedly found it and other horses in really poor condition so started posting pictures to FB.

I dont know anyone who's been there personally but posts about the place have been circulating on Scottish horse pages for weeks now.

If true, then its appalling! ????

I’ve seen it a few weeks ago. I’ve heard a good few accounts so I imagine it is probably true.

I believe it is true, and the husband of the woman who runs the place is a board member of ABRS which is why nothing is being done about it. I have never had the misfortune to have anything to do with them but acquaintances appear to have.

I just cannot believe action hasnt been taken.
Do Scottish riding schools not have to be licenced by the local council annually, as per English ones?

Yes but the womans husband pulls strings, I can't remember the full story behind it but I think he is a BHS riding school inspector? If you follow enough links you will get the story.

I don’t know about every storey but certainly know of two issues for sure. My friend was one who went to pick up a new livery from there end of last year, the new livery had her horse on loan to them on the understanding he was for their daughter not the riding school. She had gone to check on him to find him used in the RS, skin and bones and riddled with lice. My friend also helped the old owner get her horse back which was there this year. There’s been concerns about the place for years, but as others have said the owners husband is a trustee of the ABRS

I put 'the yellow man on the road' by their barn, just for a big pile of rubble and grass growing through bricks of an old building? Maybe I've got the wrong place!

I think they're just not very tidy, I love the lone traffic cone! Posts have certainly indicated it is still operating as a going concern (apart from right now obviously).

If you go on the streetview timeline you can see the pile grow through the years.

That’s will just be typical rubble pile, you see quite a few of them round farms up here. Farmers will Periodically use rubble to fill holes Or hardstand muddy gateways. Until used it will sit there and grow all sorts ;)

Not BHS but an ABRS trustee AFAIK. There are many stories about the place. I'm told a lot of the photos are old and I do know WHW have been involved but don't know what the current situation is. One Facebook post claimed they were using someone to source horses for them recently.

TFF - Scottish riding schools have to be licensed and inspected annually by a council representive and a vet.

yup ABRS, certainly some of the cases posted weren't that recent, but did then seem to indicate an ongoing problem.

Thanks E-M.
Surely there is someone on here who could visit, report to SSPCA?

it’s definitely still open the entrance with the rubble pile is the farm yard entrance, the whole site is not the RS they rent space from the farmer that still lived there although not sure how much farming is still done if any. The actual entrance for the RS is further south up the road you can see curving round the outdoor arena.

I feel sick thinking this is/was going on. The photos of the horses on the website - they don't look happy horses, you can see it in their eyes. It's really upsetting.
I'm disturbed that even complete beginner children and parents would think the conditions in some of those photos was okay.
