Hi all!

I've just purchased pollenex after seeing some good reviews, powder form. The horse normally suffers from pollen a little but nothing a fly mask/ nose net won't fix, this year he's a little worse though so I know it would have been better if I started him on it sooner but I never had any need to.

Generally speaking how long does it take for it to start working?
Thanks!

I can’t remember I’m afraid, I used the liquid version though and alongside a nose net it really helped. I think liquid works slightly faster

I can't remember either, but I seem to think relatively quickly. However, we start it just before the pollen season starts on a loading dose so he can hit the ground running with his allergies!

I prefer the powder!

Thank you both!
He's a sensitive soul but isn't normally as bothered but he's been rubbing his nose on me coming in from the field, slightly watery eyes bless him. Hopefully it will work for him x

I tried this after my vet wanted to try steroids for my youngster that was beside him throwing his head around in the field like he had a wasp around him. We think it was the rape as it was in the field nearby. I decided to try pollen x first and use steroids as a very last resort. Vet thought I was bonkers.
I think it started to improve within a few days.

I've just bought this online. I'll give an update when I try it. Mine has a pollen allergy, when it gets bad it leads to sinusitis which causes his headshaking. I want to try to catch it this year before it gets to the stage that he needs steroid treatment.

Fwiw this winter I fed haylege instead of hay to see if it made a difference. I don't know if it's related but when he was on hay his headshaking started at the end of February. This year his headshaking hasn't started yet and his sneezing has only got bad in the last 2 or 3 weeks. Fingers crossed that the pollenex helps.

I started It yesterday so fingers crossed! I only fees mine soaked hay but sometimes he gets dry hay when he's tied up but I noticed he gets a runny nose now when eating it, put it in some water to take dust off for 20 mins and that works so must be the dust irritants x

Dust really sets mine off too. Good luck with it, hopefully it'll work for us x

My mare who usually gets a little bit bothered by the pollen but nothing a nose net doesn’t sort, has been very upset this week. She’s headshaking, rubbing her nose along the walls and floor and seems quite unsettled. Headed out tomorrow to buy her some pollenex to see if it has any affect.
I hate seeing her so distressed.

Really interested to hear results of this - our new little Connemara (bought in winter!) seems to have a pollen allergy which we’ve become aware of since the turning of the season, we’re giving her Piriton and feeding global herbs shake free but so far doesn’t seem to be quite getting in top of things unfortunately...

Exactly the same as mine! Must be something to do with the odd weather we've been having I guess x

I did ring global herbs and they were very helpful, airways plus sounds like a good one also. I also find mine is less bothered when he has a fly rug on, fully covered (the yard like to mock him hahah) and also soaking the hay. I will let you know if I notice a difference with the pollenex x

I cannot believe the price of this supplement. According to the Global herbs directs I need to feed 100g a day to my 500kg horse that would mean spending over £100 a month. Am I reading this wrong.

Thanks

I couldn't get either of the horses that I bought it for to eat it at all. How are you managing?

I tried all the usual tricks with a variation of mint, treacle, apple juice and lots of carrots and they wouldn't entertain it at all. Can't say I blamed them as it did stink!

Mine wouldn't touch it the first night night so the next day I mixed it in with half his balancer and water, let it all soak up then just before i fed him I gave it to him added the other half balancer and scoop of garlic, eating it now. Does smell awful though haha x

Hi every one! Just an update he's been on the pollenex nearly a week now- I have noticed a good difference - horse eyes aren't as watery and he's not so inclined to push his nose into my back coming in from the field, also his breathing has calmed down. I can't comment on riding as he's been kicked so off for a week or so.
So overall i would say I'm pleased with the results so far, deffo lessened the symptoms x

That’s good news
This seems to be one of the best on the market that actual works
