Has anyone got any advice re these products.

Chantin came in yesterday with ever more lumps/bumps/sweillings. Now ive eradicated the wheat from her diet I think its something else (well it must be or she wouldnt be getting anymore lumps etc)

So im thinking its the midges that are biting her. She came in yesterday and from her belly button to her teets there was lots of blood - all dried but they have eaten her. Any part of white on her gets eaten. And obviously they are starting anywhere on her body!

So called Global Herbs and they have receommended feeding her:
Bumpy Skin
Fly free
Restore

Has anyone fed any of these? what were the results?

BTW - tried the soaked oats - she hates them . Refuses to eat them and kicks ehr bucket all over. Called Simple Systems and have bought her the red bag grass buts and the lucinuts (lucerne/alfalfa) Gave her some this morning (very slightly soaked) and she wolfed them down!!!

If your horse is a fussy eater, you may find it difficult to introduce these products, especially 3 of them! 2 horses of mine, 1 fussy-ish , and 1 who is an equine hoover, have been very un-keen to eat these, even introduced very very slowly - just worth noting before you spend your hard earned cash. That said other people swear by them so.....

i use two different products from them for Blossys pollen allergy and they work VERY well.

You have to introduce them in tiny amounts to the feed tho as they are strong smelling and tasting. But Bloss will now eat the recommended dose, it just needs to be built up slowly.

I used Fly Free a couple of years ago... well, I tried to! My mare wouldn't touch the stuff - it does have a very strong aroma.

PG - thats great. Suppose if she wont eat them in her feed ill mix them seperately with lots of molasses - trick her into eating it!

Which ones to you give her?

oh dear - hope it doesnt put my mare off eating it. I really need something to help her as the fly sprays arent good enough - well they may well be put I cant keep re applying it throughout the day as im at work.

Ive gone and bought her a Rambo sweet itch hoody to see if it helps

thanks - couldnt remember if youd told me previously or not so thought id ask.

btw the lumps have got seriously worse now - took photos last night but didnt get to put them on the computer.

I tried the one for sweet-itch, something like itch free or whatever. Smelt horrible. Luckily my horse is a hoover so did eat it but I know none of my others would touch it. I was just shocked when I opened the tub to find a tiny bag of supplement in the bottom. I dont buy it as I find it too expensive for the amount you get.

A friend of mine uses a couple of products for her chap and swears by it. Its funny though coz we all think they all smell like curry powder - you can smell his feed coming out of the tackroom!!

He will actually eat anything though so he doesnt mind his curried feeds!!
