About 2hours ago i took my 2dogs for there last walk of the night just down to the village shop then up the main road and back to my house when i saw one of the horses in the field with his leg through the fence so i went and had a look and he had a nasty nasty cut .. lots of blood ect
so i rang the owner of the stables(my horses are on a diffrent yard but we have the number incase we hapen to have thses incerdents)
she rang the vet and owner
i took the dogs back home as i was like2mins away and we happen to have a horse first aid box at mine (my mum brought it even though i have 1)
so i went back to him and he was very relaxed if it was my two they would be having a nervose breakdown
i cleaned it up and bandaged it ect and kept him calm
he was really cold and his heart rate was low so i rang my mum to bring one of the lads rugs up and she did so i chucked that on to keep him warm
the vet came
but no sign of the owner
so my mum rang the yard owner and i helped out the vet
lucky for him it looked worse than it was
but vet said will have to go in ect
so i ended up at 11 at night mucking out a bed that hadnt been seen to in a month!!
and yard owner lent some hay and straw and when i went to where his feed is ... well there was a big fat rat dead in it
so yard owner gave me some haychop and pony nuts to put his bute with.
yard owners going to check him tomorrow and then go to his owners house as according to the another livery shes not brought him in, in over a month
but yeah nothing to do with me
just glad his going to be ok :)
that was a pointless post haha

Hope my neighbours would be as kind as you if anything happened to our horses. You went to a huge amount of trouble for a horse that was nothing to do with you.

I'm surprised though that the yard owner wasn't keeping more of an eye out for the horse (not the accident part, but the state of the stable, the rat etc.) I keep a very close eye on my liveries, probably to the point of being irritating, but what you describe doesn't sound very savoury! Hope you get a big 'thank-you' from the owner - though I wonder.....?

Well done you, good job you were not only vigilant but ultra helpful and practical. Some owners are truly unbelievable, do hope the poor boy makes a good recovery
