I managed to get two to 16. One got really arthritic and the other had some kind of stroke. The vet said that goats don't get strokes. I asked him, how many 16 year old goats do you know? He had to concede that not many get to that age and it did present as something of that sort. They are fickle though, can be as right as rain one day and keel over the next for no apparent reason. Good luck with yours.

Thanks, it's not ours, there is an outward bound centre across the field from us that has two goats. They came over offering us a few bales of hay as one of the goats couldn't chew hay anymore. He kept getting it stuck around his teeth, to the extent he needed the vet and teeth removed. The vet wanted to put him down, but the lady that looks after them was horrified and said no (!!!). They are on grass nuts now, I had a look at him and he did look well, perky and well covered. They're 9/10 now. I just wondered how long they live. It bugs me that this place has animals. They arent animal people that run it and nobody is there outside school hours, just the odd D of E child at weekend.
