Hey Just wondering if any one could suggest some thing to help! I have had my horse for 4 years and all this time he been very gobby with the bit playing with it, chewing on it trying to open mouth etc. he never strong or nasty and still works into a contact and stays round, but he just is always playing with the bit! Had his teeth, saddle and back checked regular, and have lessons on him, i did think he may grow out of it but never has!

Any ideas please??

dont worry about it! if you have a flash on to stop him from opening his mouth he'll be ok. my horse always does it - its his way of relaxing into the contact.

or if you have copper? then i think they like the taste of it i guess it depends what sort of bit they have in anything with rings or things that they can play with they will play with them but that is what some horses need to help them to relax

this may be all aload of nonsense but thats what ive found out over years of changing bits to get the perfect one!

Have you checked the bit is suitable for his mouth conformation? He may be playing with it to make himself more comfortable.

i tried him in lots of different bits, straight bar, double jointed, single jointed, loose ring hanging check etc! he got a small mouth so ive got him in a thin single jointed loose ring snaffle, which he seems to go best in.
