Stupid effing neighbours setting off fireworks RIGHT BESIDE our field!! Which is also right next door to the racehorse stud where all the mares and foals were out !! Thank god Ellie and the shetland were in tonight- (they are usually out!) it felt like there was world war two going on!
So the stupid neighbours had us marching round to their house and letting rip at them ( something that does not come naturally to me !) and then just as we left we overheard the owner of the stud bellowing out at them- then there was a MASSIVE slanging match- ( we could hear it from the bottom of the road) all the women of that house were screaming and shouting, the stud owner was screaming and swearing- it went on for about 10 minutes! our village has been quiet and tranquil for 15 years-never had anything like this.
Jeez! How stupid can people get- these neighbours used to have horses themselves for chrissakes! They could have warned us. Do hope that the poor mares and foals are ok- that poor farmer spends millions on them

Ellie was tense but allright thankfully.

I know ! And they just couldnt understand what on earth we were all so upset about...thicko's... the daughter went to agricultural college too, so she should be a proper country person, yet she was the one heading the slanging match saying things like 'this is private property get the f***k of our land !' NO excuse!

How thoughtless. There's a livery yard/riding shcool 1/4 of a mile from us run by a non-horsey farmer turned entrepreneur and they had a firework party the other night. Thankfully ours arn't worried as they are used to the bangs from his shooting parties....!

Read on another forum about a six month old foal who was literally scared to death by the fireworks and died of a heart attack. In the West Midlands a foal had to be PTS after bolting because of fireworks and breaking his leg. How many more - all for "fun".

i had to get my children all out of bed tonight put them all in the car and fly down to my stable to check and clam mine as someone was having a party only 5-600yrds away from my stables the fireworks went on for about 1 1/2hours
the two boys were ok but my filly was getting in a mess. bloody fireworks they make me so mad i was shaking before i got to the field incase something bad had happened

Too right! God how awful to hear these stories!

I just feel so sorry for the farmer/stud owner- these mares/foals are his whole livelihood for goodness sake! He has poured all his money/soul/ heart everything into the mares.
