bloody bracken not pregnant
325.gif
spoke to karen she advises that i have a uterine biopsy on bracken as everything else cycle, eggs etc are fine shes with the most fertile stallion but she is not holding onto them
345.gif
karen has said that she wont accept bracken next year without one of these being done to show that its not the uterus thats causing the probs so i dont waste anymore money, karen thinks her age and the fact she has had foals before is not helping and her uterus may be to weak. so her advice is beg steal or borrow another mare for next year!!! so who out there is gonna lend me or let me steal a mare?!!!!
250.gif
have a friend who has offered me her 16.2 IDx mare however shes a maiden who is 15 (i think!!) so what do you reakon my chances are with her?!!!! i would sit my friend down and explain all the things that could go wrong with her mare so i wouldnt paint her a rosy picture of mares in foal, she would get the full truth about what can go wrong. failling that am gonna have a look for a cheap(ish) mare thats for sale in the winter and once foal weaned sell the mare. heartless i know but i dont want 3!!!!!!!!!

so anyone that still has there fingers crossed may uncross them!! and thank you!!! so back to the tale!! bracken is home on sunday and i am jetting off on wednesday!!!!!!i think this holiday is defo needed!!!!

Maybe the mare/stallion mix doesn't work? Whats happening with regards to stud fee then if she wont accept bracken back? Are u thinking of having a biopsy done?

TBH hun I'd try a diff stud.

Very sorry bracken, although I do think a uterine biopsy would have been a good idea a few attempts ago and that this stud should have recommended you do so a few attempts ago!! but that just me!
Its a simple and quick and inexpensive procedure, we did one on my Grade A last year just because she'd had problems previously and turned out she had endrometritis (sp) which was treated with 3 lots of antibiotics into the uterus and she took on her next cycle, if you haven't got your mare in foal in two attempts and there is no obvious reason like excess fluid etc, I always recommend exploring for problems, it could actually save alot of time and money in the long run!

Echo everything that HG has said!! I'd actually be a bit peed orff with the stud for suggesting this was done earlier!!

can transfer stud fee to another mare if i want no probs!! so think i will defo get the biopsy done then that way i know either way and just keep my eyes peeled for another mare. already been lookin!!!! why are they all down south the ones i like?!!!!!!!!!!!!!! could be the mare/stallion not mixing so will get the biopsy and if she is fine will use another stallion!! glad in a way she is not gonna let bracken back next year if biopsy not done as potentailly could be wasting my money again!!!!!!!!!! roll on 2008!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

thankies peeps will defo be getting biopsy done. karen was saying that there was no excess fluid, puss, infection etc so could be like your mare HG! think they hold off the exploring etc as the vets do it and bill the mare owner seperatly so maybe they thought i wouldnt want it done (after all shes just a mongrel horse!!!!!!!) or with the troubles they have had this year getting other mares into foal maybe just put it down to that.was only 1 reply when i started other reply!!! otherwise would have included you on that one!!!!!!!!!(was looking at broodmares!!)

The stud should have ask you, they should say, look your mare isn't taking I recommend you get a biopsy done before you go any further to see if there's a problem, then you could have decided whether to get one done or keep trying blind! A biopsy MAY have saved you loads of tries and money!

Or am I being predantic because I want to get people mares infoal as quickly as possible and get them back to them to keep the costs down for the mare owner??

i agree with that as well!!! i will ask the stud what the policy is on sunday cus if i do get another mare would prefer to know now if i'm gonna need biopsys etc doing or if they will sort it out themselves.

Ohh, nooo!! How frustrating... I'm sure you'll have better luck next year, whatever you decide to do. I don't know of any broodmares going for loan, but I'll keep my ears open for you. You certainly deserve your holiday!

thankies anakin!! the mare will be well looked after!!!! i think i may not come back from the dominican!!!! just spotted on in the wirral for sale for 2950 on horsequest but to be honest not looking (at the mo anyway!!!) at paying that price, might see if they would agree to a long term loan as it cant really be ridden as such so its not like i can sell the mare on easily after weaning!! link to mare!!! http://www.horsequest.co.uk/ if that dont take you straight to the mare shes the first one in the broodmare section!!

LOL!! you will have to come and meet her in person then
grin.gif
!! bet you find that shes not!!!!!!!
tongue.gif
i cant think who it is!!
crazy.gif
but have texted them to see if they would consider loan as not paying that price for a mare i cant ride!!!!!!!!!!!!!

so so sorry to hear she hasnt taken!
Exactly what are you looking for in a mare and i will keep my eyes open for you? i may have a mare that would suit you esp with me having twins but to be honest - wouldnt want her visiting certain studs so thats no good! I'd def put some wanted ads up and see what you get offered before you rush into buying one, i'd also do the biopsy - if only to know in my own mind why she hasnt taken? if the biopsy came back and everything is ok - would Karen let you use another stalli next year for Bracken incase it was a mare/stallion incompatability?

bad luck BH

we always have people contact us asdking of we would like to take a mare on loan, so their are plenty of opportunities out there...

i'm lookin for anything that can have a foal!!!!!!!! i am gonna get the biopsy done just to put my mind a rest and if it is mare/stallion incompatability then i can use another stallion! just gonna do another post!! with possible mare of friends i can maybe use!!! so all opinions welcome!!

Brackenhappy very sorry to hear that. Ditto what most have said about the biopsy and broodmare loans, as Opie says there are many people looking to loan out their mares for breeding............am sure you would pick up one if going down this route............

So sorry to hear that Bracken is not in foal. I was really hoping that it would happen for you after she was AI'd.

Glad that you're going to have the biopsy done, hopefully it will just be an infection and she can go back to the stud next year, and hopefully get in foal first time!!

Enjoy your holiday, you deserve it!!!

thankies!! have back up plan in place sot of(see my other post!!)!! if biopsy dont work out the way i want!!!! got to go pick the cowbag up later!! so my holiday is defo derserved!!!!!!
