Godfreys first ever BSJA show

Nothing overly exciting, took the monster boy to Vale view to have a go at dreaded BSJA

Arrived, entered, got back to lorry to find my horse a shaking wreck

His "viewing door" had slammed shut on him in the wind, so he had got himself stupidly wound up

Anyway, warmed up for the warm up class, he was being "old" Goddy and being backward, but got him jumping quite nicely, went in and jumped a lovely rhythmical round, with just one down which was my fault, as I had tried to rebalance him, lost the rhythm and so got too close and took front rail off.

Hey ho.

Entered the BN, walked the course which had alot more coming up alot quicker than used to with trailblazers, and everything looked alot squarer!!!

Anyway, donned spurs, warmed up beautifully, though G took exception to spurs and towed me around the arena. Went in, chilled as anything and popped round in areally nice rhythm, made the related distances easily, but had a "Godfrey" moment in both the doubles, he still isnt brave enough to really go and make the distance, so had 2 poles down, one from each double, so lots of grids planned!

BUT very pleased as he was forward and felt keen, other than the doubles which we will sort at home,

SO quite chuffed with my rat bag!

Good boy Goddy, he will eventually get it with the doubles, it just takes a long time for the messages to get from his brain to his feet!

It takes him a while to work out he is meant to jump one fence EXACTLY one stride from another fence

Keep going hun, with every outing he'll come home older and wiser. You can certainly tell it with Boo, he comes home telling you he's a proper eventer after each comp

Will be doing some at some point, but of the three that was the least taxing one for him...working at home alot of flatwork though

Well done both!!! My chap still struggles with 1 stride doubles and he's 10 this yr!! Don't worry about it, Irish boys are clever chaps and sort it out in the end!!

Woohoo! Yayayay! Sounds like we are getting the better of the SJ gremlins! It is amazing how much squarer the oxers are at BSJA. We will be sticking with Trailblazers and RC showjumping for now (our local RC is up to height anyway!).
Have you done much dressage practise? I am ashamed to say I haven't done a single one over the Winter, but at least I've sorted the SJ and the water phobia!

Lol!! Nope not done any dressage outings, though got one or two planned....Sjing was our main aim, and we have been working hard on our flatwork at home....so hopefully will pay off?!! May do some dressage next weekend actually....

That was my theory too! Can cope with dressage being work in progress, but I have been busy hunting and show jumping! No dressage next weekend for us, we are South view JAS and then the following week hunting Wed and Sat!

yeah we're doing a Sjing/XC JAS type thingy next weekend too

BUT is our local show centre (20 mins in lorry), and they have BD on on the Sunday, so may pop up and do that too...depends on bank balance!!

Thanks hon, I think he would have jumped exactly the same if he was in the BN or the 1.10m tbh. The height doesnt bother him anymore, just getting the canter more consistant
