My 19 year old mare has been diagnosed with sever kissing spine throughout her thoracic region of her spine and has arthritis in both her spine and front legs. This has meant she had to be retired from schooling work. She lives out and is sound most of the time, the vet has said I can still hack her out at a walk n trot a few times a week. She is having her shoes taken off tomorrow (only wears fronts) What I want to know is can I get her to go bare foot, and if so what process should I go through to harden up her feet. To go anywhere from the yard you have to do a bit of road/gravel work and then onto grass/packed mud tracks?
