Hi All,
I've had the back shoes off my cob for a couple of months now, and he's been doing really well. Strode out beautifully on any surface from day one, and only one or two days of any slight reluctance since. Now the workload is increasing with the lighter evenings and he's still coping well. His feet are looking fab and the hoof quality and growth rate has rocketed - he's even growing noticeably faster than he's wearing at the moment, and looks like he is now landing much more heel first behind.
So... Would you try taking the fronts off? I'd like to try, but my otherwise superb YM and farrier are fairly traditional and rather more sceptical - anything in work needs full shoes...
I've moved yards fairly recently, so may end up changing farrier - if so, then it's an opportunity to change to a farrier that is more pro barefoot if anyone has any suggestions for the Fair Oak/Hampshire area?
Thanks
