Going jumping 2moro night scared lol

Hi guys I am going jumping 2moro night and just need some moral support lol my mare has been there done it all and I have jumped her loads at home I am just getting so scared the thought of going to a comp I know we can do it but I still get so scared of what other people think like looking like all the gear and no idea lol xx
 
I can completely relate to this. I've had horses most of my life but I had an 6 year break and have only just this summer got back in the saddle again (rode on the odd hack during the 8 years off but no jumping or anything!). I've got my own horse again (well, pony - he's 14:1hh) and he's as honest as anything and can jump well but I just go to jelly at the thought. It annoys me because before I sold my mare 6 years ago I was jumping everything and anything - she was wonderful and to be honest I was probably a bit spoilt by her because I trusted her with my life to jump anything I pointed her at. The pony I have now is a little gem and jumps really well and calmly, he's still only 6 but he's never refused a jump in his short ridden life... that was until I got on him and tried to jump. What a mess I am - talk about nervous, I feel sick at the thought of jumping!! Luckily the yard owner got in the school and gave me a good talking to (just what I needed to stop being daft) and I jumped him, was so happy!

At least you have jumped at home and you trust your horse. People at shows can be cruel but I always remember that even the ones who go to shows every week run into trouble every now and again. I know it's hard but you just need to forget about the place you're competing at when you're in the ring and just imagine you're at home, in your own school, jumping the jumps you have jumped a hundred times. Ignore what everyone else does or how well/not well they do and just go do your own thing. Don't set yourself any goals like winning or anything, just go to enjoy yourself and get a chance to jump other people's jumps!

My mum used to tell me all the time when I was scared: ''Show jumps are just home jumps with different paint on them''

That worked every time!! Good luck and enjoy yourself, forget everyone else :-) xx
