Going to a XC event on your own?

I'm going to a HT tomorrow - on my own. The lady who was coming to "groom" for me has been called in to work. I've never gone to one on my very own before - Do you think it's wise?
Is there anything specifically I need to do? I am quite worried - any advice greatly received!

Personally I swore never to go to a XC event alone after a I fell off schooling at a place no one knew me.

I'd want to be sure that someone at home knew where I was and could rescue me and/or my horse if necessary. Make sure the event secretary has emergency contact details. If there are people you know at the event, let them know you're alone and ask them to keep an eye on your round.

Sorry, I'm not trying to put you off, and there's nothing 'wrong' with going on your own, its just wise to be prepared.

good advise above. I have done many BE events before on my own. Unfortunatly weekdays my parents are always working and its very difficult to get ppl to come with me so i even go on my own or spend half the year not competing.

Im sure you will anyway but just have a good round XC, play safe and don't take risky turns or chase the time, as i said im prity sure you will not be doing anything daft.

A friend of mine who traveled alone rode extremely stupidly, chased he tim at a 3'6'' upright rails (may i add she also was very novicy and relied on the horse to sort her out) and cme crashing down. The organisors took fantastic care of her horse, arranged stabling and her emergency contact was notified immediatly. Organisers are aware that some ppl must travel alone and are well prepared just incase.

I always go to things on my own. One thing I do is write my vehicle reg number and vehicle / trailer description along with where I leave my keys and all emergency contact details on my (home made) medical card. I always tell Hubby where I'm going (and make sure he listens!!) and roughly when I expect to call.....I always call before leaving the venue so he knows I'm round safe.
 
i tend to go by myself as mum dives us there gets my dad to pick her up and then she goes away and leaves me with the car and trailer cause she has other things to do

but then i try to get friends to go if i can so that im not lonely if its just sj i bribe them with a free trip in the trailer lol
