Going to get a new horse... but what?

Cant decide whether I want a 'ready to go' horse or an unbroken one for a challenge!?

Am going to Bishop burton to do an equine degree next year so wondering whether to buy a unbroken horse and do the baisics then continue its education up there to a high standard?
 
I can strongly recommend the traditional types as in coloured hairys.I bought one three years ago she was my second horse i had her when she was 6 months and hardly handled. She is the best horse i have ever had and ridden. Now 3 yrs old she is broken to ride and is like a school mistress. Im not saying they are all like that just depends on what you are looking for but temprement wise she is a star

Personally I'd go for something "ready to go" - I'm too old and shook to be trying to work with a youngster, my balance isn't great at times, so I need a horse that's done a bit and can carry himself...
 
Its really your choice - personally though Id buy a youngster to back and bring on (or maybe buy something just backed?). Id go for an Iberian too, they're the nicest natured horses on the planet!

Defo, or even part bred. I don't think you can find a better breed! Hehe!

Not sure, it's up to you- do you want to go out and do things NOW, or wait a few years and have the satisfaction of knowing you've "made" this horse?
 
It depends, are you planning on having the horse on diy livery?
I went to bb and it was awful, I had a 5 year old with me and i had no time to do anything with him.
Think carefully about how much time you are going to have with the horse, i didn't do the degree so you may have more time but make sure before you go. I thought i would have loads of instruction etc with a young horse but i was sooo wrong.
