Im in year 11 at school and my proms in July..
it sounds ages away but I really want to get everything planned!

I have transport there and back and people to take my horse back to the yard etc when I have arrived

So, I want to be different and arrive on a horse but I'm just wanting opinions.

My dress is white and sparkly, like a wedding dress but its really big..
So I can use my 16.3hh Thoroughbred who is calm, and I can use double bridle etc. He would definitley stand with all the other cars and transport that will be arriving and he's bombproof.

Other option is my 15.2h Sports Horse.. he's alot younger than my big lad so he might be abit more apprehensive. But because of his colouring I dont know whether he will look better! He can also have double bridle etc. And he looks gorgeous when he is clean haha!

Either way they will be covered in sparkles and ribbon.

Opinions please!

I have the same dilemma!!
Not sure whether to go on my 14.2hh bombproof chestnut eventing pony, or my 16.1hh grey ex racehorse. I think I may take the pony as some people are arriving in a tank!!!

Id be going for safety in that situation!!

On prom night you want to get there in style, look good, and get in.
Also, if your grey lad would want to look at everything and you wouldnt be able to rely on him to 100% look after you!

Plus I think black horse with white dress will look beautiful!

also, have someone walking by your horses head just in case!

IMO, I wouldnt be on the roads without Hi Viz, and I doubt very much you want to be in High Viz when going to a prom so would personally stick to a car, or horse and carriage?

Sorry to be a party pooper

just as another question.......

what are you doing with your hair? as in that situation I would prob be careful as u shud really have ur hat on (just in care of spooking!)

I rode my little cobby to my ball, cant find a decent pic atm though, this one complete with small assistant to ride her back to the yard!

ETA, i couldt sit on a saddle with my dress so went bareback with a roller and numnah to sit on. I didnt wear a hat but had someone leading her the whole way and 2 adults close by, she never spooked or jumped in the 3 years i owned her.

Haha

It would hilarious if I turned up on a horse, i would never live it down
grin.gif
I'd have people saying I stank all night
wink.gif

However, if you're set on it, I'd go on Bill. Recipe for disaster taking the baby (think he is 5??!)

OMg, im so jelous, our prom was cancelled
frown.gif
because they ruined it and made all these stupid rules about it!
i would go with the bay one, i think it would a) be safer and b) contrast better with your dress- sort of black and white
smile.gif

have fun and i expect photos
laugh.gif

Deffo the first, safety is important no good if you spend your prom night in hospital! lol
Lucky you to be able to ride there, I wanted to but my little'un was 'unsuitable' to say the least
wink.gif
haha spooking is a permanent feature :P so I had the pony pair I backstep/used to ride drive me
smile.gif
'twas lovely, wants lots of photos too!

I think take the 16.3hh Thoroughbred. He will look just as lovely!
I understand about the hi vis stuff, but if you are only going a little way, i think you will get away with out wearing a tabard etc, or just put a tail gaud on or something. Personaly, if you are doing anymore than just standing still i would always wear the hat. A vevet with nice straps would look nice.
Good luck!

"may i ask why theyounger horse is in a double? is it for safety sake? is he normally ridden in it?"

He isnt, he's just in a simple snaffle.
For showing though he can be ridden in a pelham (he's a jumper so he gets strong sometimes) not the 2 bits, sorry..bad wording!

Id have people leading him, and I think the roller and numnah is a fab idea! Just not sure how im going to get on/off etc haha!
I want my hair long and curly, but he's so placid I wouldnt need a hat as id literally be doing a few strides round a corner from the trailer, not up a road or anything as its not on a main road, usually I wouldnt never ride without one, but ill keep it as a rare exception..!
smile.gif

I think it will make a change from all the ferarris and limos...!
And i might just sort horse out, go home and shower etc...and ask somebody on my yard to give my dad a lift, im sure somebody would be willing
grin.gif

Please Please be carefull, I have a fleet of stretch Limos and we do loads of proms every year and YOU MUST have a 110% boom prof horse its not just the cars Lorries, Limos and all sorts of verious vehilces but the 100s of people at some of the proms, Plus the rider in prom dresses that unsettle the horse ,I have caught 2 horses at differnt proms after dumping the riders.and seen a number of very unhappy horses at proms.and remember you wont be wearing your hat, chances are it will be the wrong colour to go with your dress.and you wont wont to spoil your hair.
