My fiance has been rising for 10 years with a break between where she had to have a back op due to a bad fall....

I am finally going to join her riding... its my first ever time on a horse!!!

His name is William and he is a cob and very calm and does not get spooked by anything... first ride/lesson is on Sunday so wish me luck!!!

When my OH met me he was scared of horses. Soon realised he had two options - get to like horses or see me rarely. He got to like horses and now has his own clydesdale who I think he loves more than me.

We have great time together - he only likes to have slow hacks but comes to shows and provides support. He is not as mad about horses as I am, but is pleased he made the decision he did.

Hope you enjoy the riding - wear a good pair of pants - not boxers or you will be sore

If you really get into you can get the boys equivalent of a girlies support bra for riding.

Alternatively do as he did and go western - much more to his liking as you can wear jeans - he is not made for joddies.

It sounds like to have decided to join the horsey world and I am sure you will enjoy it. Riding does wonders for fitness, balance and a feeling of achievement and well being. As you process you will feel really proud of yourself and be able to look forward to going hacking around in countryside that you would never normally see.

Lots of men learn and ride and seem to pick it up really quickly, it sounds like you have a lovely horse to learn with and I wish you luck.

Good luck, I am sure you will become as addicted to is as everyone else soon. But you will probably ache the next day, but I am sure you will feel extreamly happy with yourself. Would be nice if you could get some pictures and/or let us all know how you get on

My Oh hated horses when we first met, but has gradually come round. Seeing me going off and enjoying myself, and then having to help out with the kid's pony has made him want to have a go.
So let us know how you get on! OH is booked in for lessons after xmas.
