going to look at a pony tomorrow morning, 14'3 Welsh D
it would be for my OH to come and hack out with me down the lanes... nothing exciting really just a bit of safe fun... pony is for sale due to owner loosing grazing she has another 3 for sale, anyway pony comes with tack and rugs, however bad side.. its 20yrs old.. however the pony is soo cheap its nearly free... so if i go and like it etc,, do you think this is a good idea or not...

i know if i do get this pony i would have it for life and basically it would be coming to me to die.. harsh but honest... so what do you think..? oh and how difficult is it to get a20yr old insured?

ta

i personally wpuld never let a horses age put me off, i had a pony on loan not long ago as a companion for poppy who was 24yo and u could of sworn she was 4 the speed and agility she had was amazing!!

If you are aware of the possible veterinary costs involved with an older pony (and I say possible - we nearly always had oldies and never had a prob with any of them) then it sounds ideal for you! You will have a job getting insurance I would have thought; some companies offer it for veterans but I think it is quite limited. None of ours were ever insured past the age of 16!

As you say, you are offering the pony a home for life, which is lovely
