Trying not to get too excited!! She is a small short legged bitch. Last of the litter, which was the case with my jrt that we lost. She is wormed, defleaed and I think she has had her first jab, she is 10 weeks old. Can see mum but don't think owner has dad. What else do I need to look out for??

Happy, healthy, confident pup - the same with mum x

Is it actually possible to go and see a pup and not bring it home????!!!

Yes, you are looking for a potential companion for the next ten years or more, if you feel that the puppy isn't the right one for you/the right fit for your home, you are perfectly entitled to walk away.
I know you are being tongue in cheek, but I meet so many people to whom this information seems to have been a revelation (you have no obligation to buy) and they felt they *had* to bring a dog home whether or not it was the right fit, that I feel it is worth saying!
Best of luck.

I did two visits to the litter I got mine from and saw which ones were into people rather than their littermates/I wasn't interested in ones which were hugely independent or away from the pack/not interested in the bullies and scappers, from those ones, I looked at whether or not they were prepared to chase and hold strange objects (my keys lol) elevated them, put them on a wobbly surface, made loud noises etc (just dropped the keys onto a metal surface) and I looked at the ones which were most interested in food.
Obviously if there is only one you don't have to do this with a larger litter but those are things I would do to see how they adapt to stress/their environment.

Wow how exciting. When are you going to see her?
Don't forget the photos if she is coming home with you :)
Was going tonight but lady rang to say she has to take her poorly child to A and E. When my OH spoke to her this morning she was about to take kiddie to the docs so I think she is being honest. I've asked for a photo of pup and mum. Arrgghh, I hope she is worth waiting for!! Knowing my luck someone will go see her tomorrow. I could go in the day but OH is shooting all day so got to wait til the evening!

I've certainly never managed not to bring one home and have had to strongly resist the urge to bring home two! I think I have usually asked loads of questions beforehand and the breeders have been pretty honest so I have always been happy with the puppies I have had. The one thing with JRTs is that no two of ours have been the same, they have all been individual characters in a way I haven't seen with other breeds. For example, a friend has three labs and although they are all slightly different that all have strong lab traits where as if you ignored the fact ours generally look like JRTs they could be totally different breeds in terms of personality if that makes sense!

OP could you message the seller and ask her to hold the puppy until you view her tomorrow?

The lady who's got the pup I'm supposed to be seeing tonight won't return my texts. I know she may have issues with her child so I'm not sure what to think.
I had another look through the ads and came across a lovely litter an hour and a half away. They have a bitch left. The lady has been messaging me about everything for the last hour or so. She has sent photos of parents, pups, her horses, her gundogs. Also the vet certificate and microchip number. She has asked questions about our set up as well. I sent photo to my OH who really likes the look of them all, so it's sounding really positive. Owners are back home tomorrow afternoon so hoping to drive over tomorrow. Eeeekkkk
