Going to sponsored/fun rides alone..

I used to go to a few sponsored/fun rides with my friend but she's stopped riding now and I'd still like to go but am a bit unsure about going on my own! Do people normally let you ride along with them? Maybe I should post an ad in the paper for a "friend!" ha ha. Does anyone else on here go to these type of things alone?
 
If you are in Norfolk then you are very lucky as there is a very good local group who organise pleasure /endurance rides in your area. They are all very friendly and will find some people for you to ride with you. If you want their contact details and schedule please E-mail me on peter.natt@btinternet and I will send you their latest schedule (arrived last night).
 
A friend of mine goes alone if I'm not going and she always manages to tag along with someone.

To be honest, I bet you could find someone on here to buddy up with......there may be other people who want to go but don't since they won't have anyone to ride with.
 
I'm in the same boat. I used to go with a friend but she's moved yards now. YO usually organises trabsport so that's not a problem but everyone else likes to gallop about and do big jumps att he cross country days and I'd end up on my own doing the little jumps. I'm hoping to meet up with my freidn sometimes but I'll admit I've chickened out of a couple of trips that I probably would have loved, just because I'm worried about who I'll ride around with
 
I havent been on my own but I have had some1 ask if they can tag along with me and my sister she stayed for half the ride then decided to walk where we wanted 2 move up a pace. give it ago u might meet some new ppl
 
If I go by myself I go at the end so don't get constantly passed by galloping hordes.

Maybe go to one by yourself and ask the secretary if there is anyone else in the same position, or put up a little notice by the sec's tent to find a buddy for the next ride.

I may be in the same boat myself soon and in Norfolk too! Horse is now being brought back into work she's been off 3 months with a soft tissue injury. I'd only had her 9 weeks when it happened! I myself decided to break my arm cross country schooling a friends horse 10 weeks ago, so all in all raring to go, when we have both recovered together!
 
I always go on them alone even though in the schedule sometimes it says you cant go round on your own. I'd rather go round on my own as its just me and my horse and we enjoy each others company - he, he how sad does that sound!

Seriously, if you go on your own you should take your mobile phone with you at the very least. I normally have a penknife, bandage, tourniquet and whistle in a bum bag I carry round my waste. You never know when you could run into problems, and I lost a horse many years ago as a result of an accident on a pleasure ride.
 
I always have people to ride with but would be happier sometimes on my own... but if anyone does Rides in Surrey, Oxfordshire area and are stuck for someone to ride with then feel free to PM
 
I've been on my own before and had a great time. It made me go and talk to other people and introduce myself! You'll probably find a few more people who go on their own too, I did. So i'd say go for it!
 
I used to do most my long distance and er rides on my own at the start but used to chat to loads of people on the way either pre overtaking them or pre them overtaking me. You always get the odd person who wants to ride alone (excitable horse in company, rider wants a bit of peace etc) so long as you respect that you should be fine. My most enjoyable ride was a pleasure ride where I rode with some lovely ladies one of whom could spot nuts and berries a mile of so fun ride and filling as well!!!
