Am looking at going down next week to the beach with flint and a friend of mine and her horse.

We would go to Camber sands, but friend is concerned to go there as she has heard the sand can be soft, and is worried something would happen injury wise.

Just wondered if anyone had heard of this, and where else could we go in the south east?

Thanks

Don't know anything about Camber Sands (I am far far away from there!) but I would generally recommend walking or trotting along the beach first if you are not familiar with the place, before going for a gallop, this should give you a good idea how firm the sand is.

Sure plenty of people on here will have been to that particular beach though.

Thankyou

That is exactly what i was thinking! Will see what others say. And i will give the coast guards a ring in the morning.

Hi, I go to Camber Sands all the time, there is one 'soft spot' near the harbour end but the rest is lovely, pick your time to go when the tide is out the furthest, you won't have any problem then.

In the summer you can only go before 7am and after 7am (I think that is right) and Fri & Sat the car parks are shut about this time, the coast guard will let you know all these details.

After Oct the beach is open to horse riders all the time - that is when I go, it is empty during the week - lovely!!

It would make sense to go after october, but i am back at school and the only half term i have soon is the october one and im in gambia with the school.

Thanks for the warning about the soft patch

I’ve been to Camber Sands quite a few times and never had any problems with the sand. I have only ever been between October and March though when you are allowed on anytime.

Have fun!
