Stacey - if you don't mind waiting until February, we are planning an East Sussex trip to the Zangersheide Open Days, and then on from there ..... Oooh, how exciting!! How about joining us?

In the meantime, some other tasty German and NL studs to look at? http://www.kempke.hof (they have amonst others Clintaro, Lancado, Mighty Magic, who we are looking at for 2010 ....) Gestut Birkhof (Grafenstolz, Chambertin, and loads of gorgeous stallions!) www.gestuet-birkhof.de And Enterbrook Stud, more showjumpers, but they have a couple of young stallions who were presented at the Z Open Days in the spring who were lovely - Sandro's Beast being one. http://www.enterbrook.nl Happy browsing!!

Normally you have the "Salon des Etalons" At St Lo in Normandy on the first weekend in February, where you'll see a stack of stallions (132 this year). Eurocommerce bring their stallions, and Diamant, Dollar, Flipper, Corofin etc are all there.

You can get the boat to Caen from Portsmouth, and St Lo is about 30 minutes from there.

We try and go in both October and February. Last weekend of October is the Trakehner stallion licensing which is fascinating viewing. The other studbooks hold their gradings at the same sort of time.

In February we try and go to the Trakehner stallion show and then fit in visits to studs and other stallion shows around it. For exmaple this year we went to Schockemoehler, Ahlers, Sosath etc stallion shows

and visited Sprehe, and other studs privately. Realy useful way of seeing the stallions close up and personal, and would throughly recommend it

I go with Volatis and its a fascinating trip. You really like a certain stallion on paper and then go and see it in the flesh and in the stallion shows and you can see a different side that makes you change your mind.
Celle is quite a depressing place, we did get a cuddle with Rotspon, Don Frederico and scratched Weltmeyers bum!! I also had a drool over Lauries Crusader.
