Well, we decided to go to GC on saturday for their first indoor BSJA of the season....despite the early torrential rain it turned out to be a nice day, and stayed dry throughout
Trike jumped the British Novice and produced a lovely clear round over what felt like a fairly small track. They must have realised this when 10 horses went through to the JO as they upped it a fair bit. Anyway, we were drawn last to go, and were going great guns until he lost a bit of impulsion turning to the penultimate fence, broke into trot, and the merest of rubs was enough to bring the pole down
So, 4 faults but he went really well, and would have finished 2nd if the fence had stayed up
I decided that one class was enough for him and so we sat out the Discovery....and i'm glad we did ! It was the biggest Disco i've seen, and being 2-phase was really tight as well as being right up to height
Bo jumped the 1.05m Open. Again, they built a very big 2-phase track, which felt more like a 1.10m with a bigger JO
Anyway, we had a really annoying stop at the 2nd fence. I don't think Bo was really ready for the fences to come up quite so quickly after a summer of outdoor jumping so it took him (and me) by surprise lol! We came to it again, and he just moved up a gear and proceeded to jump the best round he has in a very long time
Never felt like touching anything and was really taking me to the fences. *Hopefully* he now has his confidence back
After thinking long and hard, I decided to leave it at that and so didn't jump the 1.10m. Better to finish the day on a positive
So, we didn't win anything, but both horses jumped really well, and it's looking good for the rest of the indoor season
