I ask because my Dad and step-Mum are looking to take on a three year plus dog or b!tch.

They've had Golden Retrievers for more years than I can remember. The last three were rescue dogs - two girls who left us at fifteen a few years ago, and then the lad who passed away last year.

They have a good home, friendly locals, daily beach walks. No other pets in the house.

Thank you.

Ta hun :)

They've been in touch with the rescue people and are keeping their eyes peeled :). Their lad came from someone I 'met' on here, so I thought it worth an ask.

Step-Mum walks every day and even now, a year later, people comment on the lad and how they miss seeing the two of them together.

Might be worth contacting breeders as well to see if they have or know of any that need rehoming and keep an eye on things like GumTree and Preloved.

I was going to suggest those websites but I would urge that large sums of money are not handed over. Sandy/Candy on here is a great example of a very lovely old girl rescued via this forum from one of those sites but I don't like to see the trend of chucking out older or unwanted dogs via these sites, especially when the chuckees are getting cash for them, being fuelled :o

There's a 'Golden Retriever' on the Dogs Trust website but me thinks tis more a retriever cross! Lol. Still, looks a nice dog.

Sorry CC, I didn't see your reply :o

They won't hand over lots of money, but thank you for the heads up :).

Their last dog's original owner had to go into long term hospital care, hence the lad needing a new home; and the two lasses had owners who just could not cope, so the dogs went to my parents who had the time and space for them. They could get a puppy, but they have become used to taking slightly older dogs that need a home. Always Golden Retireivers though.

Would they consider Many Tears, who charge about £170 rehoming fee? They have dogs being fostered all over but are based in Wales.

Actually I might know someone. My friend has a daughter who has come home from Dubai with her gold retriever bitch. It is a young dog, and it has settled in well, but ultimately she never really wanted the dog (a boyfriend bought it for her) but she did not want to leave it in Dubai. They said they would try to rehome it in the UK. We are in Surrey - are you far ? You can PM me if you want. I could pass your phone no. to her.
