Some of you may remember my old mare lottie and the pictures we posted of her in the late snow we had, looking fit as a fiddle. Went up to check on them tonight and she has goo on her back legs. Please send vibes i'm desperately hoping it's not the pymetra back as we agreed with vet we won't sedate and flush out again. I'll clean her up and monitor over the weekend if anyone is interested i'll let you know what we decide. :-(

oh goodness, i hope not. is it not just her being in season and a bit yuk on her legs? Fingers crossed for you. I haven't had any dealings with pyometra in mares but know how awful it is in girl dogs. Does she seem ill?

Why does she need to be sedated to be flushed out? I don't want to give you false hope but I am going to pm you a suggestion in case it is Pyometra.

Thanks guys. She doesn't seem ill as such but more tired than normal and naughty. We flushed her out before and even in a weakened condition she was non compliant until we sedated. She's 32 with cushings and arthritis. We've had over 17 years together so if she's ready i'll have to find the strength. I refuse to let her suffer even a minute. At moment discomfort is all she has but if it's the pymetra it will progress fast based on last time. My vet is involved and knows her well so I have help.
