Good Back person in the Perthshire area...

Hello all,

My horsey has been out of character the last month - At dressage comp this wkend the judge who knows us well recommeded to get his back and saddle checked over. Im just looking for some recommendation on back and saddle people in my area -perthshire? Ive not had a back person out to see him before so lacking in experience in this area!

heard good things about archie too but i ended up using liz jones (cos she came to yard already) and she has done wonders for honey - she was unridable when i bought her due to back issues and liz has been great with her - i'd highly recommend her.

saddler - i'd recommend Andrew Sankey - i have a M2M from him and she and i love it - other local saddlers seemed to think the saddles they gave me to try fitted - when my horse was blatently (as in throwing me off in protest or getting pressure points!) telling me they didn't...
 
Posie Honey - is Andrew Sankey independant or does he work for a saddlery? I would happily buy my horse a new saddle if he needs one - just want to make sure its fitted by some1 good!

yup he is - he'll re-fit any make saddle if it's just a flocking issue - but he only makes his own M2M... but - my M2M cost the same as a few others i'd been trying (think jeffries/ideal/black country cost level) and was made from the tree up to suit honey and i - and a free check up etc. so def worth the money
 
Thanks - my mum just called to say she got recommended Andrew too! She is going to call him for an appointment. And for the back check up we are going to get archie!

Another vote for Liz Jones (07383111447) she's McTimoney-Corley and EBW qualified. Worked wonders on my mares and my friend's horses. I'd tried just about every other "back person" prior to Liz. She's the only one that gave long lasting positive results and who really got to the root of the problem. I've been using her for 2.5yrs now.
 
I'm afraid that I've known a fair number of people who had Sankey saddles made for their horses and they all roll to the right. He also seems to make saddles that also don't fit the rider so that the rider is lost in a saddle which is too large, even though they are in proportion to the horse. I'd avoid at all costs, I'm afraid.

Have you tried Louise at Stirlingshire Saddlery?
