Hi, i never post on here but i need help as i don't know what to do!!
Would you rather be at yard with good facilities or be at a yard with good friends?

Just as, at the moment i'm at a yard with great facilities, ie indoor school etc, but i really miss my old yard, which only had an outdoor school and complete DIY but i had some great friends there who i miss alot, so what would you do? Move back to your old yard, or stick out at the new place and hope you meet new great friends.

Do you need/use the facilities or were you happy with less? personally I'd want to be with friends but if the facilities are necessary for you, then stay.
You AND your horse have to be happy, so base your decision on that maybe?

I agree with hollyf - it depends on where your horse is happiest. Also, if it were me I would take into consideration what your aims are. If you are looking to further your schooling and want to compete then I would stick with the better facilities. But if you are just looking to be hacking and doing some fun stuff, then go with your friends. It kind of depends on how much you are going to use the great facilities.

well i don't really know where he is happiest, i think he likes the new place as it's a bigger yard so more going on, but today he got kicked in the field by another horse and is lame, he was never kicked at my old yard, well not that i know of.
Well i compete my horse, so i do need the facilities but last year a i managed with just the outdoor school!
I just don't know what to do

pros
u will see every1 again who u miss
there mite be them 2 people comein but dono would have 2 check
u kinda no people better as some of them u went 2 skl wif
cons
no1 will turn him out unless them 2 people come
and no indoor skl

well i moved as no one could turn him out and i was having to cycle there every morning before college to turn him out. So i moved to this yard which is quite far away. But they turn him out and take him in. I will start to drive soon as i'm 16 so will be easier to turn him out etc.! Now i'm at the new yard i really miss my old yard.. but maybe i'm just being stupid and should give my new yard time i have been there 4months now.. but i miss my friends

if its a big yard you will have every chance of making new friends, though it is hard to start with especially if your still looking back in a way if you know what i mean..?
facilities wise if you had an arena at other yard i agree you dont necessarily need a roof to be over it.
whats the new turn out set up like, why did he get kicked? are there too many in a field, you said its a busy yard?

Yeh theres alot in his field and as theres not much grass at this time of the year they stand at the gate all together and end up fighting alot, at the old yard he was much more of a loner in the field. Didn't get up to much in the way of fights.

Pros!!

Will see everyone again!!!
Wont be in an over crowded field
half the price of new place cheaper!!
Closer cycle/walk distance
on bus route!
Can go up early on show days before parents so don’t have to rely on lifts

cons!

Will have to ask friends to help put him out in the morning
and there is no indoor school

oh and don’t even know if there are any free stables

I moved away from some really good friends because the yard didn't suit my horse, so I moved to a less 'competition' based one. If you move, I'm sure you will make new friends!!!
