Good farrier and equine vet - Stafford area

Tom Hollinshead farrier and Straitons vets from Penkridge. There is a vet in Weston can't remember his name but was definately not impressed!!

Weston as in Weston Under Lizard?

Can't suggest a vet as when I was in that area, I continued to use my normal vet from Cheshire. Farriers - I swear by Jonathan Nunn. He is superb, second to none, kept my arthritic old boy in work as long as possible. Terrible time keeping though!! ;)

James Price was apprenticed to Jonathan Nunn and lives in Gnosall. If you are referring to Weston on the road to Uttoxeter, he probably covers that area. He has done my lot for years and always taken a pride in doing a good job. Don't know about vets but James will probably tell you - his family keep horses and he works with vets on rehabbing feet.

I won't use Straitons personally due to something that happened to a friend's horse but that's not saying they're not good!

Any other suggestions?

Defo Tom Hollinshead as farrier, hes amazing. Does remedial work and brilliant handling horses :) Agnew arent local but I find them good. I am thinking of changing to someone closer and have been recommended straitons. Not keen on Shires since john Trainer retired.

Pool house are by far the best!!
I was with shires for a few years but in an emergency you can often end up with a 'cow' vet :(
Straitons are ok if you don't end up with one of their many trainees

I use Johnathan Nunn.

Personally I wouldn't use Straitons.
I used Pool house when I needed a horspital - they were good
I've never had a problem with Shires, but soulfull I know what you mean about cow vets on an emergancy

Used Straitons for years and would recommend them, there is a lot of very competent horse vets there and their trainees are very good and if not sure of something ask then they ask the more experienced vets.

I use pool house, although v good and got my girl sound they did mess me around due to lack of communication between receptionists/vets/stable girls.
