I am in deperate need to find a new Farrier- in west sussex / surrey area.

My Farrier is just not up to scratch with rubbish TB feet and one of my horses is on/ off lame because of it.

HELP MUCH needed please

I recently swapped to Morten Allpass on the advice of my vet as I was dubious about our farrier at the time. He is very very reliable, listens to what you have to say, arrives on time:eek: and my vet rates him highly which was important to me. He has been excellent with our youngster as well as the old girlie. Same price as our previous farrier. My landlady has also swapped to him and is pleased. www.allpassfarriers.co.uk

ETS also Mike Jones - very good farrier not sure how far out he goes.

thank you for this will give him a ring.....if anyone else has used and recommends would be great to hear more about him.....always a bit scary changing farriers

Yes it always feels like a leap of faith! He is very pleasant though and kind with the horses. He will return calls if you leave messages and phones if he is running more than five minutes late - amazing:D

I would thoroughly reccommend Jake Gregory, he shoes my mare and trims all my youngstock - he's kind and patient with the youngsters but firmer with fidgetty mare (but still very kind) he's never let me down and is very good on timings. His number's 07881 904454

You could try wayne wood? He has just started up in west sussex after being more in the Hampshire area for 5 years. He does our advanced dressage beast( ISH... TB x ID) with terrible TB feet. In the 5 years Wayne has been doing his feet he has never lost a shoe nor taken a lame step! VERY reasonable prices for the west sussex area too! Wayne is very professional, always on time & has been fab with my youngster as well as my two veterans.

Danny Eades is superb, he has really good apprentices too, one of his lads trims my old boy and he is so gentle with him and does a really good trim balanced and even, we don't have any shoes off and he regularily attends seminars at Newmarket with the top vets there, and best off all is he isn't cheap but he also doesn't charge the earth either, and is happy to entertain the barefooters and does a better job than the 'barefoot trimmer' I used before, my navicular horses feet and improved in balance and condition no-end since Danny has been doing them.

Can you tell I think he's brilliant!

And I have been through a few to find a good one, the navicular horse would be sound if not at the hands of one farrier who was appalling, so I really have to trust a farrier to let him near my horses now.

I Second Mike Jones from MJ Farriers, he is an excellent farrier and has been looking after my horses for a while after being advised to change by my vet.

He mainly does remedial work (thats how I got him) I think and it very picky about who he takes on if your lucky enough to get him then you will not be disapointed really knows his stuff!!

Check out the area covered section on his website to see if he covers you http://www.mjfarriers.com

Finding a good farrier is hard but I believe in you get what you pay for! Good luck
