Hi everyone, my horse is kept in bishops norton which is in gloucestershire. His shoe has come loose and the rest need doing any but I have no farrier numbers due to all my previous horses being barefoot(had barefoot farriers) and therefore id like the numbers of some good farriers because although I can get numbers off the internet I have no idea who are good and who arent so word of mouth seems the best way!

Please help as my little mans just stuck in the field til i find a farrier.

Thanks,
Sarah

I take it you've only just bought him? Ive never know a farrier that only trims, indeed a Farrier should be a hoof specialist and also be able to fabricate shoes as required, on a safety note be very careful with the loose shoe, I once saw a shoe fly off a horse at full canter, it flew through the air at a dangerous rate, do you know any experienced horse folks that have removed shoes before? (make sure they know what they're doing) as it's tricky work, I wouldn't ever advise this unless the shoe is so loose it is deffinatley coming off, but a half hanging off shoe is disaster waiting to happen.

iv had him about a month now but he had new shoes just before i got him. barefoot trimmers literally only trim barefoot they do no work with shoes as they dont believe in them. this is what my farrier was like anyway but obviously most farriers trim barefoot horses as well as shoe.. its just mine didnt, she specialised in barefoot trims only. his shoes not so loose itl fall off or hanging off it literally only moves slightly. i just need to book a farrier soon but have no numbers. i dont just want any farrier i want a good one as iv used a few bad ones before.
