Totally self indulgent but I've had a good few days with the Destroyer.
Hubby gave me a "lesson" on thursday and we had a good session cantering and trotting about, round cones and all sorts. YO commented how much more secure and confident I looked and how well Hovis is looking.
Friday morning was a bit of a disaster - hubby went to ride Omar and he just freaked. Wouldn't let B on him and then when he got on omar went ape. Absolutely ape. B had to bail for his own safety and upon catching omar (who was very stressed and running around the menage like a loon) we lunged him. It looked to both of us like he was favouring his shoulder on one side so we called the vets out as i wanted then to check out hovis' cough.
End result - anti biotics and ventopulmin for hovis and bute and rest for omar for a few days. Ouch - an expensive day.
I asked if i was ok to ride Hovis and the vet said yes so fri night i went into the jumping paddock intent on just having a wlak about. Hubby and friend came with me and before i knew it i was being encouraged to trot around ti and then jump a jump! I hate riding on grass, haven't jumped on grass since last year when i fell off and it terrfys me. Still i gritted my teeth and did it! Ok they were only about 55cm but still!
Huby then took hovis out on a hack on sat and i rode him sat night in a lesson. He was brilliant and i found myself cantering between two jumps, trying to get different number of strides and things. I know its nothing but 3-4 months ago i didn't even like to canter let alone over jumps.
Its slow coming but I tentatively feel I'm getting some confidence.
I love my horse he is a star!
Fingers crossed omar in on the mend this week
