Afraid I can't help you (yet) but am responding as am just about to move to Upper Basildon myself and will be living on Blandy's Farm Perhaps we'll see each other out and about!
Blandys Farm is literally two mins away from me I know one good hack now so let me know when you have moved and we can go on hacks together! I need to keep my boy fit for the eventing season!
Oh fab! Blandys has 55 acres as well so I'm sure we could hack there - I'll be horse-shopping once I get there but in the meantime I'm sure I can find something to borrow! I'm an eventer as well so this all works wonderfully Nope, I'll be managing a fab livery yard in Chobham but the house at Blandys is one of the job perks!
Well that is exciting and im sure there is something around to borrow. I only have the one unfortunately so nothing else you can use. Oh brilliant its my first year of getting in to it Doing an unaf ODE in March to get the fell of it and then heading out to aff. Blandys farm is now Keyland stud isn't it or is there still the original Blandys farm which is separate to Keyland Stud?
I think different bits of it are rented to different people - as far as I can tell! But I'll be there as part of Keyland as it's the secondary operation to the one I'm running in Surrey. Not sure if there are still racing folk there too but I know there were for quite a while. Oh how exciting! Are you making the switch from another discipline or is this your first foray into competition?
I See! My parents well my Dad knows the original owner of Blandys farm when it was a full racing yard which it no longer is.
Well I have had my boy just over a year now and prior to owning him i just completed show-jumping but never aff. Thanks to him being such an awesome horse and me having an amazing trainer I've gone from jumping 2ft6/2ft9 last year to know 1m35 at home and 1m at comps! So have decided its time to put it all into practice and get out competing! Although its bloody tricky when I work full time in London as well! :S
I used to be a livery at Blandy's before it was a racing yard when it was run by Paul Crago and his wife! What a small world! There are plenty of bridleways so the best thing is to get an OS map and explore!
Oh fab Angeline, your guy sounds lovely and it sounds like you'll have a great time out eventing it really is absolutely the most fun! But I can imagine that commute is a bit of a nightmare. I'll be feeling your pain soon when I'm doing all my schooling at bizarre hours around work!
Haha booboos it really is isn't it! I had no idea Paul Crago used to be at blandys - I've just been on his website thinking about getting in some lessons with him down the line
Oh and Angeline, I went novice a few years ago with dubious success but have never had the finances to really have a go at it properly - have worked on some incredible yards so most of my experience is 'behind the scenes' - this is the year I finally have the resources and finances to go for it properly
