Now by this I mean days away with your Neddy not competing but just enjoying yourself and having fun, soo for my contribution,

Chopwell Wood, park in the free car park for those who are'nt on the door step and enjoy miles of forrestry commission woodland, and for the adventurous, a quick road crossing via Linzford paper mill onto the Derwent Walk and viaducts, then back into Chopwell woods via Low Westwood and Blackhall Mill.

Druridge Bay, miles and miles of wide clean beach, with (paying) car parking for lorries and trailers, and if you get as far as Cresswell, send someone for a home made Icecream to top the day off!

Or for a schooling day, Bywell, Highplains (with it's woodland ride), Little Whittington, Gloucester Lodge to name but a few.

A second vote for Chopwell Woods, although you do need a permit to ride it, free by joining the CWHRA, who do several events, including an evening ride and bbq.
The beach beside Glouster Lodge is fantastic, although attracts a lot of dog owners

You no longer need a permit to ride in Chopwell Woods as they could'nt police it, and it was unfair that Horse Riders required a permit and other users didnt.

Seaton Carew beach is good for a gallop on the main beach and then a roller coaster ride through the sand dunes to the lagoon where the standing water isn't so scary to get them to go in!
