She had a hugely tree-trunk like leg this morning (off-fore) and didn't want to put her weight on it. The vet has been and is 'hopeful' but is coming back first thing tomorrow to see how she is doing. :(

I was at the vet's yesterday with the cat (who was also lame but improving) and when I got home I watched the horses trotting across the field and thought 'thank goodness they're all sound'. I know that in reality it didn't make any difference but I still feel guilty for tempting fate.

Please send get well soon vibes, she's the sweetest tempered horse that I've ever known and she really deserves a lovely pain-free retirement.

Hope the swelling goes down quickly and she is okay again soon. I wonder if it might be an abcess daft as it sounds as I know sometimes they can track up leg a bit and cause quite a reaction?

Best wishes to your old lady, they are much tougher than we think, my 32 year old was hopping lame two years ago (never did get a proper diagnosis), she is still here, as sound as she's ever been. Good luck

Update *good news!*

The Vet has been out this morning and she was very pleased with the mare's progress (swelling reduced and less lame). She has slightly damaged her SDF tendon but having talked through all the options she is going to be field rested in the small flat paddock. The Vet is coming back on wednesday to check her again.

I really had thought that it was cutains when I saw her yesterday, so I feel SO relieved.

Aww fingers crossed she gets better!!

My sisters mare has been really under the weather she is 37 years old!!

So every day we have her we are lucky!! I have been looking after her like a child lol
