Hiya everyone,

Hoping to be riding my Jockey today after nearly two weeks rest after a baddish full from him in a gallop over the corn fields, being hobbled by a horse is extremely painful if I had just fullen to the ground it would not of been to bad, but jockey ran over me just as I made contact with the ground....lol

Has anyone had any bad fulls where they have been on rest for a while??

It was not due to a fall but I have been suffering with back problems for nearly 3 months now...no riding at all in that time. This is the longest break from riding I have had in ownership and it has been hard! I should be back on board in the next 2/3 weeks hopefully!

Yes - my old Fell pony slipped, rolled and fell on top of me when I was 17 and I broke my back - was in intensive care for 4 weeks!

Ok now tho

Didnt ride for two years - bit got straight back on as soon as I could!

Morning.

Had bad falls but what kept me out of the saddle for a year was when a horse I was riding out with went to kick my horse, and broke my leg instead, commence bolting, hospital, leg a mess and long recovery!

Ouch! They all sound nasty! I have broken my collar bone twice, falling off, also broken my arm and been knocked unconcious.... only the broken collar bone stopped me riding though (and not for long - it's amazing how quickly you can adapt to riding with your arm in a sling!)

Sorry to hear all your bad experiences glad you have all got over them and got back in the saddle.

Hope you get back to Morm soon pottamus, three weeks will soon go, even though my two weeks out of the saddle has seemed a life time, but saying that think if my doctor new I was going to be riding he would go ape at me as I am still signed off work for two weeks, and I dont want to be.....

Horse slipped & daughter went out the side door & landed with her back acroaa the rail on a post & rail fence. She had a paramedic blue light ride to A&E......couldn't move legs. Very fortunately after tests etc just severe bruising. Was told by surgeon that her body protector saved her from more serious injury.

Not quite the same as I was only a once a week rider at the riding school at the time, but I fell off whilst jumping and landed across the poles on my back and broke two ribs in my back and cracked my pelvis. like an eejit I got back on and then seized up and the ambulance men had to get me off the horse!! Couldn't ride for 8 weeks.

TBH I've ever really thought of them as bad experiences! Riding and falling off come hand in hand really - I could never be one of these people who don't do something if there is the tiniest risk they get hurt

You know what they say - you can't ride 'til you've fallen off at least 30 times (more or less depending on who you talk to!)

I had a really freaky fall. I was going through a gate on my horse when it started to shut on us. I put my foot out to stop it and it got caught in the gate, by the bolt. My horse kept walking, so I had one leg tangled up in the gate and the other still at my horses side!! After much stretching the inevitable happened and I came off over my horses rump - my stirrup came off and was dangling on the gate. My horse was an angel - she didn't kick out or panic and bolt. It was very painful, I can tell you - especially as the bolt was sharp and went through my boot. The moral of this tale - NEVER put your foot out to stop a gate!!! (perhaps it's only me who'd be dumb enough to do this?!?)

I was always told "It takes 40 falls to make a rider."

My hubby, who had his own pony when he was younger, gave up after his first fall
