I just wanted to give hope to anyone struggling with difficult behaviour - its now been 8 months since I moved my hot stressy chestnut mare from a life of polocrosse and riding around a ménage to a new life of hacking out with all sorts of challenges in Surrey. What a transformation! At first she was afraid of every leaf and willing and prepared to do a polocrosse spin at anything that scared her, including stumps, logs ( there's lots of those in the countryside) leaves, ferns, white woolley horse poohs, birds and squirrels - yes just about everything. Perseverance, trying not to give in to her no matter what, and time, has made such a difference. She has become brave! much less strong ( but always eager) and today we walked home on a loose rein after a great ride out with plenty of canters and gallops- no prancing or head-shaking. So I just wanted to give anyone hope, who has any or all of these issues - even an amateur can make things work with encouragement from helpful friends and keeping at it!

That is great news, well done! I am just walking out in hand with my mare at the mo and she has improved already, just got to face those dreaded huge buses and things!
