I'm based near Stratford-upon-avon/Evesham and am looking to get out and do some XC schooling with my boy. He's popped fences on a funride, but that is the level of his jumping knowledge!

So looking for a nice inviting course, with a good variety of fences, and plenty small enough for a VERY in-experienced horse. Any suggestions?

Bissell Wood has a variety of courses, ranging from super small, to about 3'6. They're nice and inviting, in the woods as the name would suggest! Based not far from Kidderminster. They do have a website I think, google them to find it.

Or there's Lincomb at Stourport. They're a UK chasers course and have oodles of different fences to try.

Lincomb for sure!!! They have an are for mini fences only to! They have so much variety upto Novice level and the water is really nice and inviting to :)

I would second both Lincomb and Bissell Wood from where you are. Bissell Wood would be my preference if the horse is very green as they have rows of jumps along tracks in the woods which I found really helped Av to focus on what was in front of her...the sandy woodland ground is usually fairly good too even when it is very hard elsewhere.

Lincomb probabaly has the better range though. However I got more out of Lincomb once Av had got the idea of jumping whats in front of her a bit better by being 'funnelled in' by the tracks at BW. Have fun and post pictures please! :D

whitfield farm near ettington is good. Solihull riding club, plum park towcester, gawcott down the m40. sapey worcs, hilltop etc. whereabouts in stratford on avon are you?

Another vote for Bissell Wood. Lincomb & Hill Top are good too. I had a XC clinic with Regal Equestrian on Sunday at Swalcliffe. Had never been there before, but would highly recommend it. A friend has also told me about Lyneham Heath. I've not been but it looks lovely from the website. There is also Offchurch Bury, again I've not been but am told it is lovely. Swallowfield is where I started my boys xc education. There's also Deer Park Farm and Lazy Acres. That's all I can think of for now. Have fun!

Lyneham Heath in INCREDIBLE!!! It is like going and jumping over real BE fences on good ground with technical fences at all heights (So you can start doing tricky things small, they also do things like pin guide rails to the side of skinny fences so you can get started with a bit of help and then take them off when your ready!). They are also lovely lovely people and are always wanting suggestions on how to improve and make the facility better. (The only way for me that it could get better is if they came round and served bacon butties and diet coke from the ground every 20 mins!!:p)

For me it would have blown my mind a bit the first time I took Av schooling though as we were both very green and it is well made, solid and I would say the majority of fences are either technical or over 2ft6. However once we had got a bit more confident it was the BEST place EVER to go!!. The fences are solid but inviting and you end up just cantering along jumping things that you never thought you would! I would definately recommed for anyone who wants to school over more technical fences and get confidence.:D

Solihull has a good variety of little fences, which is just off the M42 motorway, very easy to get to. Solihull Riding Club has a website.
