Good riding routes around devon?particularly on dartmoor anyone?

I'm looking to take my horse somewhere different riding ideally on dartmoor (south devon side) does anyone know of any good fairly safe routes I don't want to end up in a bog! Or alternatively any nice routes around haldon forest or in that direction. Many thanks
 
Dartmoor is free to roam, and you can park anywhere on the moor as long as you are not on the grass, loads of free parking areas. I ride all over the north moor, never follow a map as in general you can see where you are going. Big wide open spaces, and you can easily see the wet areas, never ever had an issue with the bogs. Haldon forest has bridle paths and an OS map will show them. Parking in the forest is not cheap!
 
I am outside of Tavistock on the edge of the moor. One ride you can do is the war horse ride, giving you some fantastic views.
 
Have a look on Cheston Farm website. They are on the South moors near South Brent. If you don't want to stay with them as B&B customers they are now letting people park there, use the toilets and will give you guidance / map for (I think) £5 per horse. They are about 10 minutes hack along a quiet lane to the nearest moor gate.
 
Have a look on the Woodland Trust site, they have just purchased Fingle Woods and the riding is good, parking is fine too and The Fingle bridge Inn is a good pit stop. If you don't know the area you could park at Steps bridge which is opposite here http://www.blytheswood.co.uk and ride off road from there. More East Dartmoor than south though, and woodland rather than moorland.

For open moorland I would park at Hound Tor car park (just google any of these names), head towards jays Grave, follow the bridleways and at Natsworthy Gate onto the Hameldown, head up high, bear south and come out in Widecombe, plenty of pubs and a cafe there (and public loos, bonus!)' up to Bone Hill and pick your route back to Hound Tor from there.
