Hoping to get Coconut a new saddle in April or May, as he has had his old wintec for going on 7 years now and they aren't that fantastic to start with!

I had a saddler out to him late last year who recommended Kent & Masters for fantastic cob saddles that might fit my boy better than his current one... and at about £600 ish that's affordable for me.

Howeverrrr, does anyone else have a nice leather saddle that fits a wide cob with no withers? For less than £700?

Anddddd, what colour do you think would suit him (in sig) best? I love the look of nice brown tack as I tend to think it looks a bit classier sometimes, but then I worry that my black boots hat n jacket will look silly? So if you guys would have a preference for tack colour on a dun that would help me decide

Thanks for reading guys! x

Brown is more traditional and is correct for showing - my skewbald is buckskin and I prefer brown on him to black.

I have a wide cob, Wintec wide didn't sit right on his at all, and the 'normal' Wintecs didn't go wide enough. We now have an Origins Grandee (from Nathaniel Underwood) which I love.

Black tack (Fudge has black, he looked silly in havanna)
I'm a huge fan of Ideal saddles for flat back cobs and natives, smart, hard wearing and comfy

Fudge has an Ideal International Event.

I have a lovely saddle you might want to consider? It's brown (traditional for what you're looking for) suede and leather extra wide, w/huner/dressage for flat back with no wither, 2 months old (900 new, open to a good offer!). From a saddler but I'm selling as have another an don't need 2!! Feel free to PM me!
No probs if not, good luck!!

I'm currently researching saddles for cobby types (well, to be precise, my fell pony who currently is barrel shaped!). I've so far heard good things about Ideal saddles and Fylde saddles for wider, flatter backed types. I tried a Wintec on him (normal fit but with the x-wide white gullet in) and it was nowhere near but have tried a friend's Fylde Hayden on him and it's super - the model is a bit too "showing" for me (I need more knee rolls) but it looks ok fit-wise for his build.
