I spent some time visiting a mahoosive livery yard recently, and being very interested in hooves, balance and all that stuff, can't help looking and comparing.
I sort of know where I am with bare hooves (and there were some "interesting" trims to be seen, I don't know if by farriers or trimmers). With the shod horses though I felt I lost my compass a bit. It looked to me as if there were an awful lot of horses with heels hanging off the back of shoes and incorrect balance to support the horse. But I'm no expert, could be completely wrong. So, would anyone be able to post some photos of what would be considered good examples of shod hooves? Simply what would you expect a straightforward example of a good set of shod hooves to look like, nothing complicated.
