I'm over visiting my parents for a few days in december, they are in Leicestershire near Ashby de la Zouch. I am flying in and out of Birmingham, so will be in the west midlands too, and wondered if anyone has any reccomendations for a good tack shop to visit? I'm not after anything specific, except maybe some new Ariat boots and chaps so I would like to find somewhere with a good stock because I won't be able to get anything ordered if they don't have my size. I normally buy stuff on line but it's nice to be able to see things in the flesh for once!! Even if just to do some window shopping..

Thanks!!

There's Equestriana in Ashby itself, my two favourite stores are Townfields in Coventry, or Tower Farm in Rugby (should be findable on google). Or there is Robinsons in Cannock.

I'd echo Tower Farm and Townfields, there's also Milners in Melton Mowbray, but thats a bit of a way out.

Townfields is really lovely!

Thanks all, Townfields has a good website, looks like it might be worth a visit then. I used to go to Milners years ago when they were in Leicester town centre. What are they like now?

There is also Sharnford Lodge, Bumble Bee Lane, Sharnford, Leics. Its near the A5. Echo Tower Farm, Barby Road, Rugby. Wasn't too impressed with Townfields, Coventry though. Robinsons in Cannock is good but doesn't hold much stock compared to the on-line service.

Milners is lovely - if you're looking for some of the more prestige brands - its not a cheap trip! however the staff have always been great (and their christmas sale is always worth a look!), If you did head that way there's Buckaroo at Vale View too, thats nice!

Echo Townsfields and Tower Farm.

Townsfields has the bonus that it is less than a 15 minute drive from Birmingham Airport. As they take their trade stand to a lot of shows they tend to hold quite a bit of stock in different sizes "out the back" and I have always found them really friendly and helpful about going out the back for a root around to try and find what you want. I do find they tend err more towards the quality brands though so outside of their big sales and small sale room I do find them a little on the pricey side.

Thanks again, very helpful! Now the challenge is to NOT turn the whole trip into a tack shop tour.. Don't think my family will be too impressed.. (I'm the lone horsey one!)
