I've recently moved down here and would like any opinions on who to use and who to avoid. I've heard a bit of local gossip but its hard to tell what to listen to lol!

Sorry if this is repeating previous posts but I hate choosing from the phonebook when my horses welfare is concerned I'd much rather go with personal reccommendation. Thanks in advance :)

Try Rupert Smith for dentistry (google is your friend) he's based in Northants so it depends where you are. He's very good and I don't think I've heard a bad word about him. Has a great manner with the horses both young and old. HTH

Depends on where you are and if he's still working (!) but I used to use Joe Fossett as my farrier, what a lovely man. So quiet and kind to the horses, took his time with the babies and the oldies. He was getting on a bit though so I'm not sure he's still working.

Another vote for Alex Jessett. He is very very good!
If you want his number PM me

ETA: good vets are Hook Norton, especially Simon, but not sure how close they are to you as my geography is shocking!

Vets Avonvale are based in banbury Oxon they are top class vets they do everything even Colic operations.
They are about 40min drive from me but i still use them as they are excellent. Nick Skelton and they are the vets on the racecourses too i think.

The Summerhill Equine Veterinary Partnership based in Naunton are also excellent. And they tend to travel a fair bit too. Look after a lot of top dressage, racehorses and polo ponies

Would recommend Rupert Smith as well, excellent knowledge and brilliant way with horses. Second Avonvale Veterinary practice, they are not my nearest vets but the best and a well equipped horspital. All the vets are friendly and the care is second to none. I've had them for 12 years now. Not sure about Farriers in your area, mine is probably a bit far away.:)

Another vote for Alex Jessett, and John Brooks vets are brilliant, I prefer them to Avonvale. There are a lot of farriers about, I'm further north in Warks and not sure if mine would travel a great distance
